OGDEN STANDARD EXAMINER – Published February 14, 2015

The public is invited to a large holistic healing gathering, the Awaken Your Hearts Event, to be held from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the grand ballroom at The Courtyard at the Marriott, formerly known as The Summit Inn, at 247 24th Street in Ogden.

The free event is the first of six scheduled to be held this year in the Ogden area.

“I wanted to create an event to bring the masses together and create a space that people would want to experience and discover different options to live healthy lifestyles,” said Crystal Walker, a Brigham City resident who has organized the gatherings.

Walker said there are events of this nature being held in Salt Lake City every few weeks but that Ogden has been lacking.

“I feel like Ogden has a good, energetic vortex,” she said.

Walker said her vision is to bring to the community a constant experiential opportunity to discover, embrace and empower those things that are natural, wholesome, handcrafted, healing and inspiring to lead area residents to a healthy lifestyle and a happy heart.

Walker believes that living a life full of these principles has given her the opportunity to see many miracles show up in her life and she enjoys sharing her insight and spiritual gifts with others who are seeking to find a more joyful and fulfilled life.

“I’ve been absolutely thrilled at the quality and the integrity of the people who have wanted to participate,” Walker said of the upcoming events.

A special attraction at the Feb. 21 event will be a 12:30 p.m. concert, which has been advertised as an exclusive healing hearts act by SYKOFA, who will be performing Celtic roots music with a Gypsy Jazz flair.

The event will include a host of booths and vendors who specialize in holistic modalities as well as a full schedule of keynote speakers.

“The speaker schedule is packed full of talented, loving, and intelligent professionals that are very excited to share their message to help discover what our dreams are and what stops us from achieving those, to inspire us to embrace who we really are and to be patient and loving toward ourselves, and to entertain the entire community and perhaps the entire state to empower us to wake up and be our own creators of a happy heart,” Walker said.

Keynote speakers include Julie Johnson, who will talk at 9:30 a.m., Dr. Corey Sondrup, who will speak at 10:30 a.m. and Leta Greene, who will share her experiences at 11:30 a.m.

Johnson has a long history of spiritual healing work. Her latest accomplishment was creating NoviChi, a frequency medicine device, in partnership with her husband, Kevin. The device was launched in May of 2014.

Sondrup specializes in a wide array of eastern and western healing modalities. For the last 19 years, he has been combining chiropractic, acupressure, nutrition and energy healing at his offices in Ogden and in Park City where he treats several Olympic and up-and-coming elite winter sports athletes.

Greene will speak about her book  “How to Embrace Your Inner Hotness: An Inside Out Approach to a Lasting Makeover,” released in December 2013. Green has been featured on major local TV and radio stations and also co-hosts an international radio program as a beauty, self image, and mind-set expert.

Walker’s personal background started when she was brought to Utah as a young child and spent many hours with a loving grandmother who lived in North Ogden. She said it was in North Ogden that she learned to connect with nature through gardening at her grandmother’s side.

Walker said her connection with nature and all the surrounding beauty helps to raise her inner vibrational frequency, which equates to a high love and gratitude feeling and being. She said this becomes a magnet for health and love and magic.

Walker currently assists people on their journey to find and remove the blocks to this loving awareness in the All About U Spa and Wellness Center in Brigham City, where she resides with her family.

She said organizing her six events has been overwhelming but she has learned from the experience.

“I have learned to trust spirit because when I am led to do something this big that I think would benefit the community, the way will show itself,” she said.
